MOVIES OF THE WEEK – March 26

By Dutch Stories · On March 26, 2015

This coming week in movies seems to be all about European Cinema, with new releases coming from Russia, Finland, Germany and Netherlands as well. Despite the program is rich, there aren’t many choices available for Non-Dutch speaking viewers.

The recent events on Spuistraat, with the eviction of De Slang and the Tabakspanden, give us the chance to look back at the history of Amsterdam demonstrations and Provo movement back in the ’60ies and the ’70ies, and maybe understand better the city as it is today. Rebelse Stad is the perfect portrait of those years and EYE is screening it on Saturday and Sunday with English Subtitles. Don’t miss it.

Lab111 is repeating the screening of Leviathan with English Subs tonight at 8:30pm, due to massive participation last week.

And if you’re into the cuisine trend, DeBalie and Lab111 have Sergio Herman, Fucking Perfect, with English subs as well.

For those who feel brave enough for an alternative weekend, at Filmhuis Cavia there’s the Amsterdam Experimental Film & Video Festival. Check it out.
