Documentary – 93 Min
What is “Good” and what is “Evil”? Djean, born and raised in the favelas of Sao Paolo is asking the same question as he’s reading Nietzsche on his bed; his wife is cooking rice and chicken in the next room.
Being a warrior is Good. Climbing up walls and buildings, up higher than most people’s possibilities, writing tags and signatures, just to feel free. THAT is Good.
Djean is a Pixaçao artist, together with his group of friends. They’re not writing graffiti, but names, their code names, even if some of them cannot even read nor write.
This is freedom, this is a recognition of their individuality, they’re need to be seen, not to be invisible to the World.
Even when the Biennale invites them in Berlin, the clash of cultures doesn’t bring them to a compromise with their expression belief.
Pixadores is a beautiful and rather unusual documentary in B/W, which shall not to be missed at IDFA 2014, in our beloved Amsterdam.
